Veronica Lake - c. 1940s
Happy Birthday to the beautiful and ever so talented Veronica Lake!
November 14th 1922 - July 7th 1973
“There’s no doubt I was a bit of a misfit in the Hollywood of the forties. The race for glamour left me far behind. I didn’t really want to keep up. I wanted my stardom without the usual trimmings. Because of this, I was branded a rebel at the very least. But I don’t regret that for a minute. My appetite was my own and I simply wouldn’t have it any other way.”
She deserves to be remembered and loved - I don’t care whose photos are featured, but so far there is *nothing* for her in Vintage or Film - her hairstyle and legacy are just as important as Louise Brooks (in fact, much more iconic to me personally) - please show some respect for her, editors. She deserves it. Get something up for her in Explore - Hollywood swept her aside, please don’t do it here. It’s shameful.
Happy Birthday, Veronica Lake (November 14th, 1922 - July 7th, 1973)
“I was always a rebel and probably could have gotten much farther had I changed my attitude. But when you think about it, I got pretty far without changing attitudes. I’m happier with that.”
Happy Birthday, Veronica Lake (November 14th, 1922 - July 7th, 1973)
“I wasn’t a sex symbol, I was a sex zombie.”
